Adult Vaccinations – Shingles, Pneumococcal & Flu

Keeping up to date with vaccinations is one of the most effective ways to protect your health as you get older. Our practice offers Shingles, Pneumococcal, and Flu vaccinations for eligible adults, in line with national NHS programmes.

Shingles Vaccine

The shingles vaccine helps protect against shingles and the complications it can cause, such as long-lasting nerve pain.
You may be eligible if you are:

  • 65 years old (from 1 September 2023 onward)
  • Aged 70–79
  • Aged 50+ with a weakened immune system

The current shingles vaccine used by the NHS is non-live and generally requires two doses, 6–12 months apart.

Pneumococcal Vaccine (PPV)

The pneumococcal vaccine protects against serious infections such as pneumonia, septicaemia and meningitis.

You may be eligible if you are:

  • 65 years old or over, or
  • Aged 18+ with certain long-term health conditions (e.g., chronic heart, lung, liver, or kidney disease; diabetes; immunosuppression)

Flu Vaccine (Adults)

The flu vaccine is offered every year to protect against seasonal influenza. You may be eligible if you are:

  • Aged 65 and over
  • Pregnant
  • Aged 18–64 with a long-term health condition
  • A carer or frontline health/social care worker

The flu vaccine is updated each year to target the most common circulating strains.

Booking Your Vaccination

You can book by calling reception, using the NHS App, or speaking to a clinician during an appointment.
