Receptionists

We kindly ask all patients to treat our reception team with respect and understanding. They work hard to help you and play a vital role in making sure the practice runs smoothly.

Sometimes they may need to ask you extra questions this is not to be difficult, but to help us understand how urgent your request is so we can get you the right care as quickly as possible.

If you are kept waiting, please know it’s often because the doctor needs to spend more time with another patient. We understand waiting can be frustrating, and we will do our best to keep you updated if there are any delays.

Training practice

It is the policy of the partners to assist with training of aspirants in the medical profession and on occasions your doctor may have a student with them when you attend for a consultation. You will be informed beforehand, but if you prefer to be seen alone please let the receptionist know at the time.

GP net earnings

NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below.

However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS Services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Esplanade Surgery in the last financial year (2024/25) was £59,271 before tax and national insurance. This is for 1 full time GP, 4 part time GPs and 1 locum GP who worked in the practice for more than six months.
